During Wendy's residency at Parkwood Estate she was inspired by a story from the people that keep Parkwood vibrant. She brings this idea of remembering by the gathering of their stories wanting to reflect their sense of belonging is interconnected with her personal sense of belonging. This painting is about one story in particular that was shared, when it snows the greenhouse is like a snow globe. Greenhouses were the way the first families were able to cultivate vegetables being able to live off the land. Wendy grew up with a large backyard greenhouse built by her grandfather. Wendy imagines her grandfather running through the backdoor of Springvale just like the McLaughlin girls playing in the Greenhouses emulating her sense of belonging and connection because she grew up in her grandfather's old house on Elmgrove , Oshawa. In this reconfigured painting a full moon combined with interior lights of cottages and homes shoot across the river surface at night. These lights and reflections become refracted distorting visual reality turning. If I have trouble seeing what is real, I wonder how all the creatures of the forest maneuver this invasive distorting light.
